The difficulty of flying into the sky is evident in the countless attempts and failures in the past. We tried to imitate the wings of birds, but crashed into the ground; we experimented with hot air, but it was defeated by wind; we marveled at hydrogen airships, but were aghast at the explosions. However, we never gave up the dream to fly. Eventually, the Wright brothers installed an engine onto a fixed-wing aircraft and successfully flew for a brief moment. This was the start of a whole new chapter in the history of aviation. Understanding the science of flight has resulted in stable passenger planes, agile military aircraft, and heavy-payload cargo planes.
